Alarm Permits

If you want the police and or the fire department

to respond to an alarm at your home or business,

you are required to have a permit.

The Summit County Communications Center administers registration of security systems. They use a company called City Support to facilitate the process. The annual fee is $ 10 for each type of dispatching. If you have both fire and intrusion detection, the total annual registration cost is $ 20 which allows for one false alarm in a twelve month period. Additional false alarms cost an additional response fee. The second false alarm response is $ 75, the third $ 150 and the fourth $ 300.
